How do I access CEC’s online portal for Benefits Managers?

What do I do if I forgot my password or username?

To obtain new log in information, please contact our Client Relations Department.

Do you offer comprehensive plans, eyewear only plans, exam only plans, self-funded plans and employer-paid plans?

How do I check if my employee(s) is/are enrolled or change employee eligibility information?

You can verify and update enrollment information by logging into our Benefits Managers Portal and clicking on the member’s page or by contacting our Enrollment Services Department.

How can I pay an invoice?

You can pay the invoice by mail, phone (888-254-4290, Option 5) or electronic funds transfer (EFT). To set up or update your EFT information, contact our Accounting Department.

Do you offer electronic funds transfer (EFT)?

Yes.  To update your EFT information, please contact our Accounting Department.

Whom do I contact for billing questions?

CEC’s Accounting Department will be pleased to assist you with any questions you have related to billing.

Who is my account manager?

Please contact our Client Relations Department and your account manager will contact you directly.

How do I find a provider in your network?

Simply visit our Find a Provider page. You can search by zip code, city and state, doctor’s name and practice name.

What if one of our preferred providers isn't in-network?

Please let your account manager know what doctor(s) you would like to have added to our provider network, and we will try to recruit them.

Is there a minimum level of enrollment?

Effective February 2018, CEC requires that all new groups have a minimum of 20 eligible employees. There is not a minimum requirement for total number of lives enrolled or for existing groups.

Does the CEC vision plan operate on a plan year, a calendar year, or service-date-to-service-date?

CEC’s vision plan operates on a plan year.

When a new employee is hired, are they allowed to enroll in the vision plan mid-cycle?

Yes, new employees are permitted to enroll mid-cycle.  However, some employers do mandate a waiting period before a new employee becomes eligible for benefits.  Note that existing employees can enroll and/or make changes only during your company’s open enrollment period (unless a qualifying event occurs).

Can a member use their allowance for non-prescription eyewear?

Most groups and providers in the CEC network allow vision plan members to use their eyewear allowance for the purchase of non-prescription eyewear. The CEC allowance acts like a credit, allowing members to purchase any items they wish, including non-prescription eyewear, but members should check with their provider and Human Resources department before using their eyewear allowance to obtain non-prescription eyewear. 
 

CEC will only reimburse members who visit out-of-network providers’ offices, optical stores and optical websites that have the ability to process prescription eyewear. For a listing of restricted locations, please see the Out-of-Network Benefits section on our Supplemental Information page.

How do I transfer the list of eligible vision plan members to CEC?

There are three options for enrolling members in the CEC benefit:

 

  1. Online.  You can add, remove or update member information by logging into your Benefits Managers Portal and clicking on the “Data Management Member” link.  

  2. Paper Forms.  These forms should be submitted by:

    • a. Emailing them to ect@cecvision.com

    • b. Faxing them to 704-413-7099 – Attention: Enrollments

    • c. Mailing them to CEC, Attention: Enrollments, 2359 Perimeter Pointe Parkway, Suite 150, Charlotte, NC 28208  

  3. Electronic Files.  CEC can accept enrollment files in Excel or the HIPAA 834 file format.  For more information about implementing an electronic enrollment file, contact files@cecvision.com.

 

Is the benefit portable?

Yes.  CEC has a Portability Plan Option that allows any employee who terminates employment the option of retaining their vision benefit.  The employee has 60 days from the date of termination to enroll in this plan.  Payments are handled through credit card or bank draft.  With respect to continuation of vision coverage, the employer retains no administrative or financial responsibilities whatsoever.

Can CEC help with open enrollment?

Yes.  Please contact your account manager to discuss the enrollment process and how we can help.

Can the CEC benefit be coordinated with other vision plans and/or medical plans?

No, coordination of benefits is not permitted, either with respect to other vision plans or with respect to vision benefits under health insurance plans.
